Peace Out, Brittany!!

On Saturday, January 26, 2013 I had the pleasure of assisting with another bedroom makeover with Designing 4 Hope.  This month
was all about Brittany Wagner!!  Brittany is an amazing young lady with the most infectious smile and a sense of humor that won't quit!

BRITTANY

This is sweet Brittany!  She was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year and is right in the midst of her treatments.  This is a picture she created herself just for our page :-)

She has requested a hip hang out room in aqua, hot pink and purple with peace signs.  She loves to do crafts so we will be giving her a special space to so them.

 Brittany's room before...

Nick and Lori removing the old wallpaper border.

The color palette chosen for the room...

We started with a blank slate with white walls and hardwood floors.

Audrey taping the baseboards prepping for paint.

The entire room was painted a pretty aqua color (as described by Rich)...

then...pink and purple stripes were added to the top of the far wall.

The inside of the closet is painted a darker shade of the aqua and will be made into and crafting area for Brittany to create her beautiful painting and crafts!

While our crew was in the room doing our thing, Brittany and her wonderful family were preparing foods for lunch and dinner for all to enjoy!!  Brittany is mixing the secret mixture for the baked ziti while her grandpop supervises and her brother enjoys his turn on the DSi.

Dad is the mastermind of the kitchen and was whipping up his special scrumdillyicious sloppy joes for lunch!  Needless to say, the house was filled with this wonderful aroma of frying onions, peppers and garlic.  Lunchtime couldn't come soon enough!!

Mom, in the pink, was a most gracious hostess making sure everyone of our crew was supplied with drinks, food, conversation or whatever help was needed.  She was right there on top of whatever was requested from us and still tended to her family and friends that were visiting for the day.

Sarah, Rebecca and John finished building the trundle bed for Brittany and her sister, Nikki, who is away at college.

Rich and Steve work on custom fitting the desktop for the closet crafting area.

It was so cold outside that the living room was used for the building area for the 3 wardrobes that needed to be built on site.  The master builders were John, Sarah, Sally, Rebecca and Steve.  Well, Steve is really the head carpenter but he jumped in for a cameo!

The dresser was built in the master bedroom.

I was trying to hide from the dreaded camera!  Thanks Sarah for showing Matt my hiding spot!! :)

Nick hung the wooden blinds and the window treatments while Sarah and Rebecca assisted in hanging the doors and mirrored doors on the wardrobes.

Now it's Lori's turn to accessorize, make the beds, bring in the chair & table for the reading area and LOAD the bed up with all kinds of fun pillows!

Brittany is just loving her new room!  How could you not love that smile!!??

Brittany enjoying her new bed and pillows, pillows, pillows!  Do you recognize that Piano Keys pillow?  This was the making of the pillow!

At the end of the day Brittany's room makeover was completed and the Designing 4 Hope crew, the Wagner family and friends all settled into the kitchen for some delicious Baked Ziti, salad, bread, etc.

    1. Thanks! Brittany is awesome!! We really enjoyed our day with her and her family. I don't believe it was D4H that you saw on tv. We are small, but growing!! We don't get much publicity and do all of our fundraising for the rooms. We do have a large sponsor that funds 4 rooms per year so that is great!!

Keep watching for some more makeovers for more special children coming up!!

    3. Diana,

Yes, that show was about Special Spaces. They are a national organization that does this also.
