It's My Bag

Now that the winter is coming to an end, I thought I would slow up on the crocheted hats and start another crochet project.  I have become a TV nut in the past several years and I don't like to miss an episode of the shows I watch.  I watch Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang Theory, American Idol, 2 Broke Girls, Once Upon a Time, Desperate Housewives, Revenge, Shark Tank, What Would You Do? and I am sure there are more...

As you can tell, I have plenty of time to crochet and do hand work while watching my shows.  I cannot just sit and watch, I have to be doing something else.  I can usually finish a crocheted hat or purse during 1 episode.  This becomes my challenge...to get it finished on time!!

My new project for the past few weeks has been these crocheted purses that I used this pattern to make: http://www.tangledhappy.com/2011/04/spring-inspired-boutique-bags.html

After making the bags, I crochet a flower (I usually just make up a pattern as I make it) and line the bags with fabric and add a velcro closure.  I love to sew an old button on the flower for a special touch.

Until next blog,

Bucket List

This was today's project...I needed a bucket to carry my tools, paint brushes, items, etc. when I am working on my projects and moving around a lot.  Of course, my first step was to google for directions or a pattern.  I found several but none of them suited me....so I guess I had no choice but to make up my own -- as usual, UGH!

Well, I started measuring my bucket and whipped one out in about an hour....not too shabby for my first attempt.  I love the foam padded handle cover (with velcro) for extra comfort!

I think if I were to do it again, I wouldn't really change a thing in the design. What I would do the next time is take pictures while making it and make a pattern so I could post a tutorial for others. Here is a link for a tutorial on how to make an organizer simlar to this one.  Here is another link to In My Own Style version and a indepth look at what lurks inside her "toolbox"!  I do believe that any somewhat experienced sewer could look at my finished product and make one without directions.  Maybe I will put that on my Bucket List...A Tutorial for a Bucket Organizer...Hmmmm???

Motorcycle Mania...or Maniac??

June 2011 we were blessed with our first grandchild...We were so excited and totally in in love from day one!  We were really excited when we found out that it was going to be a boy...Now don't get me wrong, girls are wonderful too!  Our reasoning was that being the first grandchild, we knew we were going to want to buy everything we saw for the baby!  I think this is a typical feeling for a first time Mom Mom and Pop Pop -- so I our thought process was that anything and everything for a girls is too darn cute and we would be buying everything whenever we were at the store -- but not so with a boy!  The clothes aren't as cute and tempting to buy so we have found this has saved us tons of money!

Fast forward to Christmas and we now really want to buy or make something special for our little man...Well, Pop Pop, being the motorcycle enthusiast he is, decided to build him a Rocking Motorcycle....so that he did!

Many nights were spent in the garage cutting, sanding, planning, and constructing the cutest Rocking Motorcycle I have ever seen.  Too bad the pictures do not show the detail that went into the design and hand work to build this!

Hopefully, our little man will cherish this as he grows and enjoys rocking away on his own little road in his mind!!   We Love You Little Man!!!
